Opened in 1884, Anfield has a storied history and has been the stage for many of Liverpool’s greatest triumphs. However, before it became synonymous with Liverpool Football Club, Anfield was originally the home of Everton FC. Everton played at the ground until 1892, when a rental dispute between the club and Anfield's owner, John Houlding, caused Everton to leave. In the aftermath of the disagreement, Houlding decided to form a new club to fill the void—Liverpool Football Club was born, and Anfield became its permanent home.

 

Since then, Anfield has become a fortress for Liverpool, with its rich heritage and electric atmosphere, particularly on those unforgettable European nights. From the world-famous Kop stand to the iconic anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone," the stadium holds a special place in football history.
